How often should my Heat Interface Unit be serviced?

How often should my Heat Interface Unit be serviced?

We would recommend that your HIU is serviced annually to maintain efficiency.

You are under no obligation to use our services, although we would recommend that you use a reputable HIU servicing company.

Communal Energy Partners are able to pre-book annual servicing for your HIU and arrange a convenient time for you.

Please note that if you have an existing issue with your system, for example, a leak or lack of hot water within your apartment, then this is classed as a repair.  You should contact your leaseholder, managing agent or housing company urgently.

We have a team of highly skilled engineers who can complete all repairs on HIU systems. If you would like us to undertake any repairs for you, please Contact Us to discuss a repair appointment.

What are you responsible for maintaining?

What are you responsible for maintaining?

In most developments Communal Energy Partners will only be responsible for maintaining the meter in your apartment and your development's metering infrastructure.

This will include the wired or wireless meter read network, wireless routers (where fitted) and the associated meter read computers.

We are not usually responsible for your Heat Interface Unit (HIU), or any of the other pipework, radiators etc. in your apartment unless we have been appointed by the development freeholder.

You can find more information on our services by searching for your building on our Find your Development page.

Your leaseholder can request for us to service your HIU if they wish.

Why are meter verifications required in my apartment?

Why are meter verifications required in my apartment?

Meter verification/validation checks are a recommendation in the Heat Network Regulations 2014.

The validation checks are to ensure the Heat and Hot Water meter within your apartment is reading correctly and within the manufacturer’s operating parameters.  It is essential that these checks are completed.

There will be no additional financial cost to you as we only ever perform these checks on meters that it is our responsibility to maintain.

We will always aim to perform the verification checks via group bookings on a site by site basis to ensure as little disruption to you and your neighbours as possible.
